Challenge

In a full-cycle plant the start-up date is set by the process line, not by construction. Principal equipment has lead times measured in months, installation requires construction readiness on precise dates, and the sequence of welding, paint and assembly areas is fixed by the process.

Our role

Project management prioritising process equipment procurement and an integrated schedule in which construction is subordinated to installation readiness dates.

Scope

• Project start-up: WBS, baseline, procurement plan, risk register
• Long-lead equipment identification and early ordering
• Tendering for construction works and process equipment
• Integrated engineering, procurement and construction schedule
• Construction management and equipment installation coordination

Results

• The construction schedule is built from process line installation readiness dates
• Long-lead equipment identified and ordered early
• Process area sequencing reflected in the works schedule
