What Project Controls is

Project controls is an engineering discipline, not spreadsheet maintenance. It covers planning and schedule maintenance, physical progress measurement, cost control, change management and probabilistic forecasting. INVECON delivers it as a standalone Managed Service or inside a full PMC contract.

Scheduling is one function inside project controls. The discipline also covers physical progress measurement, cost control, change management, risk analysis and forecasting. A schedule without progress measurement and cost control cannot produce a reliable forecast.

Cost to Complete forecasts the expenditure still required to finish the project, based on actual status, awarded contracts, outstanding quantities and known risks. Added to sunk cost, it gives the final cost forecast. It is the key figure for investors and lenders because it answers whether the funding is sufficient.

A cumulative curve of earned quantities or cost over time. Comparing planned, actual and forecast curves shows both the size of the slippage and its trend — whether the project is recovering or continuing to diverge.

Yes. We start by testing its quality — logic, open-ended activities, realistic durations and resourcing, alignment with actual status. If it cannot serve as a control instrument we say so and propose a baseline rebuild.
